Top 10 notebooks of February

Most Popular Notebooks

Comparing last month's and this month's top 10 most popular notebooks, it becomes blatantly clear that predicting which category of portable will be the most popular amongst our readers is an exercise in futility. January saw budget notebooks rank highly, but in February desktop replacements snagged many of our spots. Ultra-portables also faired well. Dell continues to be the dominant brand, with two of its offerings snagging the number 1 and 3 spots on our list.

Got a notebook that you think could make our top 10 but can't find it on the website? Please leave your feedback and review suggestions here.

Dell Inspiron 9400

Tricked out with the fastest mobile components available, the Inspiron 9400 is a true multimedia powerhouse. Be prepared to lay down a large chunk of cash, however.

Reader Opinion
I didn't know what to expect really. I knew it would be a nice bit of kit though and I haven't been disappointed. It's quick and quiet. For a desktop replacement its surprisingly portable. Serious all round users will not be disappointed.

Toshiba Satellite Pro P100

Toshiba's Satellite Pro P100 is a competent multimedia workhorse that could easily replace most regular desktop PCs.

Reader Opinion
By far the most feature-rich desktop replacement notebook i've seen yet!

3.

Dell Inspiron 630m (14.1-inch, 1.6GHz)

Dell's Inspiron 630m is undoubtedly the king of the budget notebook hill. Its battery life blitzes the competition, whilst its performance and features are also top notch.

Reader Opinion
Bought one of these earlier in the year as a first notebook and I must say I am extremely impressed. Standout features are the extraordinary battery life (especially with the 9-cell battery) and the quality of the speakers. Contrary to what the review states Bluetooth and DVD-RW are both available as an upgrade for a small price. The only downsides are that the instant-on features weren't avaialable when I purchased my unit and the overall weight of the unit with the 9-cell battery in it. Other than that it's an excellent buy!

4.

ASUS V6J

The glossy white casing is certainly unique. Though equipped with a dedicated graphics card on the previous Centrino chipset, the performance of this unit is unfortunately only average.

Reader Opinion
The ASUS V6J is a reasonably compact thin-and-light notebook that has the added bonus of being quite powerful as well.

5.

Asus A6J

The ASUS A6J's outdated chassis is incongruent with its use of the latest dual-core Yonah processor on Intel's new Centrino platform.

Reader Opinion
A little heavy, but it's great for gaming and I love the integrated web cam!
