Top 5 plasma TVs

By Ty Pendlebury on 17 November 2008

While 2007 was a big year for plasma, this year has been a little quiet. The focus amongst manufacturers is almost solely on LCD, with Panasonic perhaps the most noticeable exception -- especially after the recent Pioneer deal.

For years plasmas squandered in SD hell (or worse!), but now -- in the hands of Pioneer and Panasonic -- they are available in full 1080p definition, and for a more affordable price.

For our money, the Pioneer PDP-LX508A is the best of this bunch as it has a superior mix of image quality, features and price. However, it's about to be replaced by a new model, so if they'res any still left in the market snap them up.

Most TVs here are full high-definition, but all are capable of displaying 720p/1080i resolutions -- which is the most free-to-air is capable of right now. But all offer a good mix of features and performance for the price

LG 42PG60UD

The LG 42PG60UD is a large improvement on the LG plasma range and will no doubt suit anyone looking for a 720p television with style and quality.

strange question but would hate to find out after purchase. Family member has epilepsy. Wondering if Plasma or LCD would be better. Wondering if one has more of a flicker, mostly unrecognizable but still there.
