Top crop: Best BlackBerrys

By Joseph Hanlon on 14 April 2009

It's the use of tools that separates man from beast. Pre-historic man had the wheel and spears; modern man drives a "bimmer" and totes around a BlackBerry.

2008 was a big year for Canadian mobile makers Research in Motion. The company released its first HSDPA capable smartphone, the BlackBerry Bold, and its first touchscreen device, the BlackBerry Storm. A smaller, but no less notable milestone was the release of the first BlackBerry to break the standard candybar form factor. The Pearl Flip 8220 marks RIM's first major attempt to appeal to a market outside its stable of CEOs and travelling business people, looking to encourage students and home-makers to BlackBerry-town.

As is the case with most mobile manufacturers, RIM's best BlackBerrys are its most recent. The following is a collection of some of our favourites.

BlackBerry Bold 9000

The Bold is what BlackBerry fans have been waiting for. It's feature-rich and sharply designed, let down in small measure by some cumbersome software.

By this phone, I mean the 8900.

I have this phone and have had no trouble with it. I previously had the 8310 and loved that. This one is just as good, with a few design tweaks in the menu area and the overall design.
Very sleek and easy to use and have had no issues at all with any of the functions.

i have this phone, and let me tell you - i was quite disappointed.
great features but lots of troubles. would explain why you have insurance for 2 years if anything is wrong.
the cost - its not worth your money. its better to look elsewhere.
