Toshiba Satellite A300 (2009)

Toshiba's A300 certainly stands out in a crowd, but its battery life means you won't be out in the crowds for long.

    this is the best laptop I've ever had, it is very fast and great overall performance.

    two shortcommings of vista home premium 1-You cannot establish a Fax fascility

    love my laptop, my son sold computers and recommended toshiba to me, it has fallen off my car bonnet at 10k's (dont ask) if I could get the bloody web cam to work all the time it would be friggen perfect, any suggestions other than buying a seperate webcam!!!

    • Good: Good for fast typing, Handles multi tasking brilliantly, Fingers scan works well, Great sound.
    • Bad: As others have stated, Web Cam is utter garbage which rates no mention by even Toshiba anywhere in any Manual or Updates.

    Well worth looking in to for higher power applications and programs needing that extra omphh that this can support, just don't count on the web cam to do anything at all.
    No problems running Vista either.

    • Good: looks awesome, sound is pretty good, runs everything pretty quickly, slick keyboard, plenty of USB ports
    • Bad: quite heavy, gets reaaalllly hot, webcam isn't great, battery is sucks

    The whole thing looks really good. One of the main reasons I bought it was because the speakers looked cool. The dedicated music keys are great, and respond very well. I was initially disappointed there wasnt a touch control for volume, but I found the scroll wheel at the bottom works even better. The mouse buttons are EXTREMELY loud. The webcam is very grainy in low lighting situations, and for some reason takes forever to load. Other than that, it's a solid machine.

    • Good: Display & CPU Speed with 4gig ram
    • Bad: Left & Right Pad buttons a little clicky / stiff

    Awesome all round Tosh - It has everything I need - FM radio and more . Sound is great - Display awesome , Wifi strong , Blue Tooth & Camera work effortlessly. Survives industrial work daily . Vista 64 & Win 7 both running perfectly

    i think this is a good laptop it is fast and has a nice finsh to it :P

    my first laptop was acer limited edition and now my Toshiba is the best i have got this is my 5th laptop

    • Good: Fast, Huge Storage, Huge Ram, BEST SPEAKERS EVER
    • Bad: battery life..... unit can get quite hot sometimes

    Toshiba easily make the best laptops around...

    my A300 came with
    2x 320gb HDD (although i probably will upgrade to 2x 500gb soon)
    4gb Ram
    512mg dedicated ati gfx which is pretty good, still seems to strugle with some new games
    while in use i need to remember not to cover the fan hole at the bottom or it becomes VERY hot, a flat hard surface is ok because there is still movement underneath but i have to keep moving it around if im on my bed or couch with it

    TOSHIBA MAKE AWESOME LAPTOPS! would never buy anything else

    • Bad: Face recognition + Webcam = fail...

    Got one last month. MARVELous looks. The 'Face recognition technology' is a bit douchey, but other than that CAPtivating COMputer. My previous 2 notebooks were HP's, but now I'm a convert.
