Sony unveils 'PS3 with Bravia' countdown timer

Sony has unveiled its latest "Bonus PlayStation 3 with a Full HD Bravia TV" promotion with a new "armaggedon clock" gimmick, and the announcement that all HD Bravias are included.

Sony has set up a webpage with a countdown clock — available here — which starts counting next week, and tells you how many of the 35,000 PS3s are still left.

The promotion will run from July 1st until all the PlayStations are redeemed — which could be a while given that the last promotion dragged on for longer than everyone expected. However, it's obviously designed to capitalise on people upgrading their TVs for the Olympics.

Considering there were 28,000 PS3s given away last time — and during the Christmas rush — this new offer could backfire on the company if there is a lack of buyer interest.

Yesterday, we reported that the promotion would only cover the new V series, but Sony have expanded this to include all of the 1080p TVs announced for release in July.

Will the world explode when it gets to zero?.

The TVs which qualify for the promotion include:

  • V4000 Series
  • W3100
  • W4000 Series
  • X3100 Series
  • XBR Series

Considering I still haven't received a PS3 for the Bravia I bought in January, Sony have some nerve offering the same promo again... 35,000 left? Oh really?

My current TV is a total cr*p box and I've been looking to replace it. I hardly ever watch TV, but the whole PS3 deal would give me a reason to use a TV. I might as well drop down to Harvey Norman - They've advertised the 32" V4000 at $1799, a total steal - and get myself one of them. Just checked, 30819 PS3's are left.

To Fishi: You're probably better off buying the two Bravias from different stores. And yeah, you could probably pull it off that way.

@Techy: wah!?! Admittedly I'm a latecommer and only registered on the 25th and posted off the paperwork a day later, but I'm still waiting to see any progress on my claim on their site. I wonder if I refresh a few more times will I get my PS3 quicker?

I'm experiencing similar delays to 'instantgratification'.. i registered on the 26th, posted my paperwork on the 28th via express post. But when i check my claim on the site they say my paperwork is still to be received. Wonder how long its gonna take them to get through all these claims?!
