This flagship Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ850A is just as good as or even better than the Pioneer LX Kuro in many areas and at a far more reasonable asking price, too.
If sport or movies are your aim then plasma is still the king, and the Panasonic TH-42PZ800A offers a great picture for a great price.
The Panasonic TH-42PX8A is a marked improvement on the 700 series, which is quite an achievement for a budget plasma. Pity it's not true HD, though.
The LG 42PG60UD is a large improvement on the LG plasma range and will no doubt suit anyone looking for a 720p television with style and quality.
The Samsung PS42A450P1 is a 42-inch plasma which features 100Hz motion compensation and is capable of displaying 3D games and videos.

Been trying to make a decison on a new TV for about aweek now and finally went with the Panasonic TH50PX80A. I couldn't justify the extra $1000.00 asking price for the Full HD 800A model. Couldn't see any difference in the picture quality of either set and as no Free to Air or Foxtel Broadcsts are in 1080p I just could see the point in it all.
Picked it up at the local Retravision Store for $1676.00, plus 4 yr extended warranty, Belkin Surge Protector, Visual LCD cleaning kit, delivery and installation. All up $2154.00
Nobody, including online stores, Hardly Normal, Good Guys, Domayne, JB Hi Fi or Bing Lee could get within $150.00 of this price.
Pros: It's a Panasonic
Cons: Still to be deliovered

Excellent picture. I live in a poor reception area and my analogue reception was poor. With the digital tuner I get perfect digital and HD picures.
Pros: Value for money. Excellent picture quality. Easy installation.
Cons: None yet.

For a smidge under $2000 you can't beat this TV. Great picture quality and the screen doesn't reflect background lighting like some plasma screens I've seen.
Pros: 50" for under $2k. Excellent picture quality.
Cons: Inbuilt speakers are ok for sports and news but if you're into movies or gaming - hook it up to a external sound system.

Fantastic set: bright picture, stunning colours, quiet operation
Pros: Terrific picture, quiet operation, nice EPG feature, good connectivity.
Cons: Internal speakers are just adequate. Ideally use a separate sound system for movie viewing.
