On Blu-Ray, Dolby states a maximum data rate of 1.7Mbps (and formaerly 3MBps on HD-DVD), but the Dolby Digital plus format is capable of reaching 6MBps, equal to DTS HD. Any idea why the Blu-Ray specification seams to limit the bitrate so much?
