Apple dubs new iPad the iPad Air

Calling it "the lightest full-size tablet in the world", Apple updates and renames the 9.7-inch iPad to become the iPad Air.

iPad Air is the name of the latest full-size iPad from Apple, the fifth generation of the world's most successful tablet. This year, the styling follows the chassis design of the iPad mini and becomes what Apple calls "the lightest full-size tablet in the world". The new iPad Air is 20 per cent thinner at 7.5mm and 28 per cent lighter at 469g (or 478g for the 4G model). For comparison, the iPad Air is the same thickness as the iPad mini and weighs 138g more.
