Upside: Viewsonic pitches its 30 inch (that's 72.6cm for those of a metric bent) LCD Television as being engineered for both PC and TV watching duties. What does this mean? Well, according to the company's spin on it, the N3000w can adjust on the fly to the quality of the DVD you're watching -- it refers to the TV version of this as 3:2 Reverse Pull Down -- for optimal viewing quality. The N3000w has integrated stereo speakers for simple audio output, as well.
Downside: Like every other LCD TV on the market, prepare to gouge great chunks out of your wallet for the privelege of owning an LCD model; while the N3000W's asking price of AU$3,999 isn't exhorbitant, the same amout of money can buy you a larger plasma unit, or any number of CRT televisions. The integrated speakers sound nice in theory, but we're at a loss to imagine someone dropping close to four thousand dollars on a TV and not buying at least a simple home theatre setup to go with it.
Outlook: Most companies are pitching an oar into the LCD waters, and it's expected to be the TV format of the future, at least in the sub-50 inch (127cm) TV space. Stay tuned for a full review of the N3000w.
