Vodafone finally reveals iPhone plans

By Joseph Hanlon on 10 July 2008

First to announce availability, last to announce pricing: following a price leak on July 9, Vodafone has officially unveiled its post-paid 3G iPhone plans just one day before the handset's national debut.

Following similar announcements from competing iPhone carriers Optus and Telstra, Vodafone has announced its post-paid pricing will start from AU$69 a month and will include AU$310 worth of calls and a data allowance of 250MB.

This plan will also require an upfront payment of AU$189 for the 8GB model (or AU$7.88 per month on a handset repayment plan) and AU$309 for the 16GB iPhone.

The 8GB iPhone 3G will also be made available fully subsidised by Vodafone on its AU$169 cap plan. This plan will include AU$1,200 worth of calls and messages, plus 1GB data.

Prices for the handset on an outright and prepaid basis have not been announced.

Full details of the Vodafone plans are on its iPhone website.

Five Vodafone stores across Australia will open early on Friday morning to allow customers to get their iPhones. Locations include Melbourne's Chapel Street store, Adelaide's Rundle Street Mall, Hay Street in Perth and Brisbane's Queen Street Mall. The Sydney store at 333 George Street will host a launch event at 7am featuring entertainment and breakfast.
