It's difficult — but not impossible — to find a snapshot camera with the chops to capture scenic vacation vistas or real-estate interiors.

Putting a lens with a wide-angle view in a compact camera is a technological challenge for a variety of reasons, but digital camera manufacturers have been slowly chipping away at the problem.

If you really want to get some sweeping panoramic shots, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 offers the 35mm equivalent of a 24mm lens at its widest. The rest of the Lumix range has several other models close behind with 25mm lenses. Your choices open up even more with vendors offering 28mm lenses — like the Canon IXUS 110 IS. All the cameras listed here have at least a 28mm wide-angle lens.

Hi, Ricoh sold the camera part of their business to Tasco about 1.5 years ago. They now concentrate on copier machines. After working for Ricoh I wouldn't buy a Ricoh camera.

Ricoh cameras have produced wide angle compacts for years and with beautiful looking models ... that others seem now to be heading towards ... credit where credit is due would be great .... also where does one go with a comparison between these compacts ... couldn't make any decision on the 'one liners ... would love to know a bit more on these ..thanks

Where are the Ricoh cameras? These guys have been including quality wide angle zoom lenses on their digital compact cameras for years.

This 'article' is a pretty pathetic attempt at conveying information. There's almost NO information, not even info on how wide the lens is for each camera, which is what the focus of the 'article' is on. And it took two people to do it too. A waste of time for everybody.

Do any of these wide angle compacts have a remote control function?

Thanks

Hello,
when will you review the Lumix FX180 in detail? I want to know if it is as good as a CANON compat.
I really like the wide angle plus zoom range, plus manual mode, but really want to know if the Venus IV engine is as good as a Canon G10 or other Digic IV.
Regards,
Lothar.
