I'd agree with most of the "prizefight" except the last segment. I don't think the value equation was explored deeply enough and the cop-out re. confusing pricing from MS was weak.

Not all Mac owners can upgrade to Snow Leopard - if some want to they may need new computers. Ditto for the Win7 users.

What is the cost for a new computer - surely you could have drilled down to that level. What is a basic system capable of running one worth, versus a similar comparison for the other brand. It's not easy but it's also not rocket science. Crunch the numbers - don't do a cop out.

Otherwise, I think it was a fair fight - limited scope but fair.

In true human fashion, people just can't stop being children. I use computers in whatever flavor you like. It's simply use the right tool for the job.
But I'm truly embarrassed for the Mac-Evangelists. Why? Because you're still harping on with the old propaganda like "Oh Mac are more stable" and the classic " Mac's don't get viruses" and the best one of all [ idiotic ] " you don't need virus protection with Mac's ".
My goodness, you morons obviously don't realize there are more vulnerabilities for UNIX based OS's than there are for windows.

The only reason MAC's globally aren't targeted is because your population is insignificant. In other words, not even 10% of the global user base. Linux users have never broken the 2 % mark.

However, Mac's user base has seen a MASSIVE escalation of over 180%
year on year targeted attacks. Why? Because of the aforementioned idiotic remarks.

    Shhhhhhhhhh!
Lest they make you the next target, and get yourself some protection. If Windows was a closed system, there would be absolutely no difference.

My Mac's have caused me more grief than my windows PC's. Get a life doode, its just a tool.
Any one who say's otherwise is just that, A TOOL!

Yeah microsoft coould hv done better on the pricing but I'm a student so I've no complains. I can get my copy @ $49AU. But hey, so far its a better, more intuitive OS. But not enough to shovel Mac fanatics into Window 7's bandwagon. Let's see if the OS can stand the test of time. Then will I proudly declare, I'm a PC

Mac's Bootcamp is ultimate with windows 7
So i still like SL more....If you have both side why ask for more.........The problem with windows is that you need a internet security which slows it down

Did you notice how all of the conversions were using Mac-native software and files? If they'd used Windows Media Player and converted Wave files to WMA or MPG to WMV, Windows 7 would have owned.

SL is the winner for sure, But i can't believe that they gave W7 a higher score in reliability and stability! What about the millions of viruses, spyware, malware, trojans, adware etc that windows machines are susceptible to? SL should have outscored W7 by miles in this section.

um, sorry 'CNET Reader' you didn't actually comment on this story!

Under features CNET forget that when hooked up with a tuner, Windows7 Media Center beats any equivalent the Mac has under the hood as well as bluray playback support.

The pricing IS quite ridiculous on the Windows side, and personally I can't live without quicklook. Aero peak is excellent and so is expose (Macs had expose since 2003, MS!). A combination of the two would be a killer feature.

It's a pretty difficult review since these OSes are very different, so agreed that the consumer wins in the end!
