I have both Snow Leopard and Windows 7 Home Premium running on an iMac with a 2.8 GHz Core2 duo processor (Windows under Mac Boot Camp). I also run Windows 7 as a virtual machine under Snow Leopard using VMWare Fusion, allowing the best of both worlds.

Each operating system has it's pluses. I changed to an Apple Mac after many years with Windows PCs about 12 months ago.

Snow Leopard is quicker to boot and shut down. It is a very fast slick operating system but cannot be customised as much as Windows 7. However Macs just "work" and are very intuitive to operate and the software seems to be very integrated to all work well together. Snow Leopard seems a little more responsive the Windows 7 and the built in power management and backup with Time Machine is excellent. The included applications with Snow Leopard such as iPhoto, Garage Band are far superior to those included with Windows.

Windows 7 is much improved and I now think the appearance is the equal of Snow Leopard. However Windows is a little more resource intensive, but to it's advantage is very customisable. The task bar with preview seems better than the Apple Dock and the new snap feature where windows snap to the screen border is excellent. Windows Media Centre is a bonus that does television viewing and recording better than EyeTV which appears to be the only satisfactory way to get TV on the Mac. Also Apple currently has no equivalent of the touch screen facility with Windows although I haven't had the chance to try a touch screen yet.

On balance, I prefer Snow Leopard, mainly because it is so responsive, but it is very close call.

However, I definitely prefer Apple hardware, for it's design over any Windows hardware I have seen yet, and Apple hardware has the distinct advantage that it can run both Snow Leopard and Windows 7 at full speed.

I think mac's relatively cheap now..but its's hard to compare given thry are running on diff hardware. OSX is sleek but win7 is not far behind. I would say it comes down to personal preferences. What is the computer bought for.. But win7 do deserve more applause.

I have used both leopard and windows but personally I think windows 7 is better. But not so much for the OS but more for the fact that I can customise my PC easily.

Snow Leopard for sure. I've used 7 and applaud M$ for finally making an OS that it both attractive and useable, however, after a year of Leopard and the recent acquisition of SL, there is no chance I'd go back. For starters, I don't need to worry about tuning and cleaning my mac every 4 ns (nano seconds for the unfamiliar), it just works, is so extremely intuitive to operate and let's not even compare start up and shut down times, M$ would be embarrassed. Another point; consider that my mac has never complained or thought twice about waking up promptly to a fully functional state after a good snooze, no mater how long. I gave up trying to get XP and Vista to comply with wake up requests. OSX by daylight. The cost of mac hardware is proportionate with the excellence delivered. The aesthetics are a bonus.

Yeah used both and really don't see much of a difference other than personal workflow. If I had to choose I would go win7 because of history of using Windows. Anyone saying one is better than the other is full of it!

I use both Windows 7 and Snow Leopard.. and Leopard wins by MILES... The only time I will ever switch to Windows is when my dad wants to play Solitaire...
Everyone who says Windows is better has either never had the privelige of using Leopard or is whinging cos they can't afford a Mac..
    SNOW LEOPARD FOR THE WIN.
