The live file-sharing capabilities and clear video call quality make Windows Live Messenger stand out.

- Good: Cheap PC to land line calls, and has been very reliable
- Bad: Using the file sharing causes a 'BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH' crash every time. Have tried on different PCs albiet both DELLS and same thing happened.
Generally very good other than my comment below.

- Good: - Flexible... you can just IM, or just do voice, or just do video, or do a video call
- web cam video calls are fantastic... clear and so easy to use. The voice quality is very good. If you need to keep in touch with people far, far away, this is great... hard to believe you get this for free!
- rock solid im
- I like the wee mees.... they change faces based on your smileys that you type.. pretty cool. - Bad: - have noticed that sometimes the video calls dont go through... maybe the servers are busy... can sometime take a few tries... I was going from the US to Australia. After a few minutes calls went through fine...
Very Cool tool

- Good: Erm? Its free (until microsoft decide otherwise).
- Bad: Inability to maintain a stable connection. Tried using it for calls from middle east to uk and it was dreadful, while skype worked great between the same computers. Please answer that one Bill ?
Very Poor Stabilty Especially behind NAT router
Does not seem to traverse NAT routers very well even with uPNP enabled. Yet again a M$ product that does not do what it says on the box - WORK

- Good: love it! Love chatting with friends and family and playing games online.
- Bad: When I am having problems it is too hard to get advise on the situation. For instance, at the moment I cannot connect at all and I have no idea why. It was fine a week ago, and now I cannot log on at all and I cannot find anywhere to even send an email for help! If you could correct this, or advise me on where I can get some help, I am sure I would not be the only very grateful person.
Thankyou, Belinda
Love it - But too hard to get help for problems

- Good: NONE
- Bad: Second week with the upgrade. Can't believe the number of status changes without my intervention. Logged itself off 8 times in 15 minutes, with and without active chat dialogue under way. CHanged status to busy for no reason. I use this soley for corporate communication and it is not reliable whatsoever. My internet connection is superior and its a 2006 laptop. My colleagues have similar complaints
Status changed 14 times in one hour on its own
