Recalled XE103 Powerline Ethernet Adapter
Netgear has announced a voluntary recall of its XE103 Powerline Ethernet Adapter made for countries using 220-240 volt power sources. A company spokesperson told CNET.com.au that approximately 2100 units have been sold in Australia to date.
Results of tests carried out for Netgear on the affected Powerline Ethernet Adapter have shown a potential for a semiconductor integrated circuit within the product to malfunction, causing it to stop working and potentially overheat. Netgear has not, however, received any reports of any personal injury or damage to property caused by this potential malfunction.
If you have one of these adapters, you should stop using it immediately and contact Netgear to return the device and get a replacement product. In Australia, you can call the toll-free customer service number on 1300 361 254 or you can register online here to obtain more information about the recall.
