World's ugliest supercar now transforms

(Credit: Mitsuoka)

Behold the Mitsuoka Orochi. It's powered by a 3.3-litre 174kW Toyota Camry V6; has a power-to-weight ratio somewhere between that of the Honda Civic and a Mini Cooper S; and carries the distinction of being the ugliest supercar ever built. Ever.

The car costs about ¥10,500,000 (AU$136,000) new and it's theoretically possible to import it into Australia, but for about AU$70 you could pick up a much smaller version that transforms into a robot.

User kenji on the Transformers enthusiast forum HK-TF has posted preview photos of the upcoming Transformers: Alternity Skywarp by Takara Tomy, the Japanese owner of the popular Transformers line of toys and cartoons.

If you've been living under a rock for the last 20 years, Transformers are giant robots that, well, transform into vehicles. However, rather than transforming into the jet that many of us remember from the 1980's cartoon series, this revision of the Skywarp character transforms from the oddball Mitsuoka Orochi into an evil robot. The action figure comes in two paint jobs: purple pearl for Skywarp and white pearl for his twin, Starscream.

Decepticon Skywarp

Everyone loves Starscream, but trust us, Skywarp is much cooler.

The Transformers: Alternity line also features re-imaginations of Autobot leader Optimus Prime as a Nissan GT-R, Decepticon leader Megatron as a Nissan 370Z, and Autobot scouts Bumblebee and Cliffjumper as Suzuki Swifts. The Transformers: Alternity line is only available in Japan, but it shouldn't be too hard to find a reseller online.
